Five years after his European debut, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has backtracked on comments he made after that match in 2018 in a hilarious interview.

ToggleAs a 17-year-old, Saka made his European debut as a second-half substitute in a Europa League match against Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava. Five years on, he's Arsenal's star man, but broadcaster Reshmin Chowdhury couldn't help bringing him back down to earth with a reference to an "embarrassing" comment he made after his debut.

When Chowdhury brought up their earlier interview, recalling he'd said "I was so excited, my mum had to put me to bed", the Arsenal star was quick to get on the defensive.
"I knew you were gonna bring that up!" Saka replied. "I don't know why I said that! Because that didn't happen — she told me to go to bed, but she didn't put me to bed."
Saka played a key role in Arsenal's record-breaking demolition of Ligue 1 side Lens, scoring the first goal in a 6-0 win that rubberstamped Arteta's side's progression to the knockouts of the Champions League. The 22-year-old has seriously honed his game since that debut against Vorskla Plotava five years ago.
